Review: The Musical Rainbow Story

Musical Rainbow Story Children seem to naturally be drawn to music. We know that our two are! What better way to foster that love of music than to include it in an imaginative children’s book. In The Musical Rainbow Story Donald Abrams tells an adventurous tale of a boy named Peter and his friend Suzy as they search for the end of a rainbow. The adventure is sparked by Peter’s desire to play one of the most well-known songs in our culture, “Happy Birthday” on the piano.

Along with the colorful artwork and whimsical nature of the story, we LOVE that there’s a tangible “trick” that kids can use to learn to play this song themselves! You’ll have to read to the end to see!

Author/Musician Donald Abrams, BS, Music Therapy, S.U.N.Y. New Paltz (1980) has authored a children’s book for those who wish to use music as a bonding point with a child. Read his book together and find out the solution to playing the Happy Birthday song! You’ll have fun like Peter & Suzy!

Parents and teachers may use his colorfully illustrated book, based on years of research, as a bonding mechanism. Once the reading of the story is completed the parent or teacher may assist the child with the playing of the Happy Birthday melody using just one finger. Those without a keyboard may use Virtual Piano to play the melody using a computer mouse.

Illustrator Kelly McMahon, based in southern California, has forged a successful multi-decade career in children's books illustration. Joyce Sfregola is a NY artist who assisted in the completion of the book illustrations.
